I’ve asked my friend Gary Danoff, Global Head of Google Workspace, to join us to talk about the big bright future of work!
I’m going to be asking him the questions we are all thinking about:
Pull up a seat and join us LIVE. I'll make time for you to ask Gary your questions, too. You're going to love him.

We had Britni on the porch to talk all about Industrial and Organizational Psychology (IO Psych). She shared with us how the psychological contract between an employer and employees has been broken. YIKES! And how people are figuring out the new contract along the way.
Here are a few takeaways that stick with me:
I have had hundreds of conversations around generations in the workforce.
You know what I find almost every time? Ageism. Beliefs about someone of different age (older OR younger) that creates negative expectations. It's heart-wrenching to see how our bias towards age breaks our psychological safety on our teams. Next week I am bringing Ashton Applewhite on The Porch to talk about this because it's critical to understand how ageism plays into the generational conflicts at work. With almost 2,000,000 views of her Ted Talk: Let’s End Ageism, I know she has a few things she can teach us about how to treat each other as we all move towards another year older. I’m so excited to finish out the year with this conversation. Bring your age-diverse team, send your interns and your leaders, because ageism is real, and we need to be more aware of it. Here are some of the questions I have for Ashton: -How come so many of us assume that aging weakens us? We think of dementia, not being sharp, losing our relevance? -We tend to believe that we won't have much in common with someone significantly older or younger than we are. What have you learned as you’ve worked in this anti-ageism space? -Does age play a bigger role in shaping our lives than class, gender, or race? The truth is that we’ve been trained to be biased towards age. Let’s bring awareness to it and change the conversation so we can take better care of ourselves and our teams. I'm bringing back Robb Holman on the Porch to talk about his book: Move the Needle.
We are going to talk about creating miracles on your team, designing rhythms that serve us, and remembering that humans are HUMANS. Can't wait to see you there! Let’s talk about this mass exodus we’re all hearing about. As leaders in the workplace, we could listen deeply, change our behavior, and keep the right people for the long haul.
Join Cara Silletto and me on the Porch next week as we talk about something she’s an expert in: Employee Retention. I’ll be asking her for specific tips on how to keep employees longer. She’ll share what is important to employees in the workforce right now. We’ll have a lively discussion with her – and as always, we’ll be taking questions from you LIVE in the audience. Is it professional to want to bring your soul to work?
The first time I saw Ryan McCarty speak, we were both presenting at an employee engagement conference. I sat and listened to him and could tell that he understood that it wasn’t enough to just make a paycheck, but employees want to make a measurable difference in the community around them. I can’t wait for you to meet him – he is a force for good and truly believes we live in an era where it’s possible to bring your soul to work. Not thrilled about returning to the office in the coming weeks? You aren't alone. I want to give you some time with my new friend, Galen Emanuele. He's a messenger of emotional intelligence and healthy team culture, and he’s the perfect guest to come on The Porch as we all navigate our return to the office.
I’m excited to compare notes with him and have you in on the conversation. I’ll be asking him his advice for companies that are trying to build a healthy and productive culture and also the barriers he sees that make it hard to get culture right. I’m going to ask him for his take on how leaders can retain talent right now in our current messy return to the office situation. He’s worked with brands you’d recognize: Microsoft, Marriott International, even NASA. I know he’ll have some wisdom and inspiration for us. The first time I saw Tiffany Sauder speak, she ran up on stage in her bomber jacket and t-shirt and owned the place. Everyone loved her. Including me. Not because she was perfect and wanted to appear flawless but because she was human and true to herself. She’s coming to the Porch and she has a gift for us: her new podcast called Scared Confident.
We’ll be talking about what she’s learning about confidence and more specifically, how we EARN it. I wish there was a fairy godmother that could wave her wand and give us all the confidence we need to realize our dreams, but we all know that confidence is earned wiggle by uncomfortable wiggle. As the CEO of Element Three, one of the fastest growing marketing consultancies in the Midwest, Tiffany has transformed a small agency from a mom-and-pop shop into a six-time Inc. 5000 company. With over 15 years of leading the company through ups and downs, Tiffany’s story is one of growth. And it’s fueled her ability to connect with and inspire everyone from entrepreneurs and business owners to executives and individual contributors. What a year to be a CHIEF HEART OFFICER
We are bringing Claude Silver back! It’s been a year of working in our sweatpants and living in social isolation from our colleagues. Where do we go from here? How will we take care of each other as professionals, teammates, and most importantly, humans? Here’s what I’ll be asking her:
Let’s talk to the person in charge of 750 hearts at the global brand Vaynermedia. PS – if you’re a GaryV fan, this is his right hand human! Do we spend our lives trying to fix and convince others or are we on a mission to find out what’s RIGHT with the people in our life? Brian’s books and TedX talk (seen over 2.3 million times) all point to the importance of asking QUESTIONS that validate the people we work and live with. We’ll be talking about his life as a consultant and speaker and what he’s learned about confidence, courage and vulnerability. I’ll be asking him about powerful brain tools and what it means to have people strength. If you’re ready for a refresh course on how we want to interact with others this year, this is your chance. Brian is the author of a book titled “Experts of Our Potential” that outlines, in story form, how creating value and certainty in a post industrial economy has changed and what we need to do as individuals to thrive in this new reality. In line with this message, Brian was invited to deliver a Tedx talk entitled “What a Fifteen Year Old Meth Addict Taught Me About Leadership” which received over half a million views in the first couple months of being uploaded to Youtube.
As a speaker and consultant, Brian has spent a great deal of time delivering in environments that have historically been a challenge for communicating the importance of “soft skills.” From nuclear engineers, to Oil and Gas chemist’s, from coal miners, to data analysts in tech companies, Brian enjoys making somewhat intangible subject matter more tangible, logical and inspiring for all audiences. |
