My t-shirt was buzzing against my skin.
With two sticks smacking the drums in my band, you could find me playing anywhere there were enough electrical outlets for our amps.

Cafeteria on a college campus
Dingy nightclub on top of a pool table
A prison chapel at 8 am

We had a mission. To change the world through great music and authentic storytelling.
I loved watching audience members as we played…YES we can definitely see you out there!  I would actually pick people throughout the show that I wanted to talk to after. As a musician, people will tell you anything if you’re willing to listen… ANYTHING. *see note above about prison shows*
There was just one problem.

Our leader was too young and she had no idea what she was doing.

Spoiler: I was that leader.

You mean to tell me my zeal for excellence, my passion for our mission wasn’t enough to keep six people together living the dream?!

NOPE.

Now that I screwed it all up, this was my chance to STOP and ask questions:

What bonds people together?
Does one bad apple really ruin the whole bunch?
How do you know that you’re doing the thing you’re meant to do?

I took my degree in Psychology and went back to school for coaching. I found out the answers to these questions and so much more. I built a program “Unleash My Career” to help young High Achievers design the career path they longed for. And I started to meet with CEO’s to help bridge the gaps they were seeing on their teams, too.

To this day, you’ll find me studying the leadership struggles we face. Like, oh I don’t know… trying to get four generations to cooperate?  We’ve got leaders wanting to hold onto their authority with antiquated skills, and young bucks who believe their degree means they are cut out to be Vice President in a year.

It’s hard to keep this band together, isn’t it?

I want to give a glimpse of a different way to do business, to build teams, and to care for the people that decide to trade their precious hours for income.

Your employees, the members of your organization, heck even the Girl Scout Troop that you're leading. They all have something in common. Human beings. They are made up of humans with their own back stories, expectations and emotions. They're looking for love and connection. They’re looking for deep meaning in their work. They want you to help them grow. They want to be heard and understood. They want to know how they contribute to the bottom line. Are you sweating yet?
As a mouthpiece for a generation that has flabbergasted Boomers, irritated Gen xers and watched as GenZ’s build their social life online, this Millennial wants to help you create a workplace where everyone contributes, where legacies are honored, and where we create that invisible chord that makes people want to stay.

So now, come find me on a stage again (sans sticks) and let’s transform the way we lead others.
